What is the Prize Money for ICC World Cup 2023: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the prize money for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be held in India from 5 October to 19 November. The total prize pool for the 10-team tournament is USD 10 million, with the winners taking home USD 4 million and the runners-up getting USD 2 million.
The tournament will feature a round-robin format, where each team will play nine matches in the Group Stage. The top four teams in the points table will qualify for the semi-finals, which will be played on 15 and 16 November at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai respectively. The Final will be played on 19 November at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which has a capacity of over 130,000 spectators.
Apart from the prize money for the finalists, there will also be incentives for winning Group Stage matches, with each team getting USD 40,000 for every victory. The teams that fail to reach the knockouts will each receive USD 100,000.
The prize money for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is equal to that of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, which was announced by the ICC during its Annual Conference held in Durban, South Africa in July 2023. This is part of the ICC’s commitment to promote gender equality and grow the game globally.
The 10 teams that will compete for the coveted World Cup trophy are India (hosts), New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Australia, Afghanistan, South Africa (qualified through the Super League), Sri Lanka and the Netherlands (qualified through the Qualifier).
The tournament will span 48 matches across 10 venues, starting with a rematch of the Final of the previous edition between defending champions England and New Zealand on 5 October.
