Pakistan’s World Cup Squad Announced: Pakistan suffered a significant setback when fast bowler Naseem Shah was sidelined due to injury, leading to his exclusion from their ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup squad, which was officially announced on Friday, September 22nd. Pakistan had been banking on their trio of speedsters for a successful world cup campaign but with Naseem Shah injured and Haris Rauf not at full fitness, their chances are severely hampered.

In his place, Hasan Ali has been named as part of the squad. Shah sustained his injury during Pakistan’s Super Four encounter against India in the Asia Cup and is expected to be sidelined for a considerable period in the upcoming months.

His absence is a major blow to the Pakistan side, given his ability to make the ball swing and his outstanding ODI record, boasting 32 wickets at an impressive average of 16.96, including two five-wicket hauls. Supporting captain Babar Azam in the batting department are players such as Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Salman Ali Agha. Additionally, the promising duo of Mohammad Haris and middle-order batsman Saud Shakeel are also part of the mix.

Pakistan’s world cup squad also features two spin-bowling all-rounders in Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz. Salman Ali Agha and Iftikhar Ahmed are available as spin-bowling all-rounders as well, with Usama Mir serving as another leg-spin option if the need arises.

Nonetheless, the Pakistan roster boasts ample experience, which should enhance their chances of clinching the title. The renowned pace attack will be spearheaded by Shaheen Shah Afridi, with support from Haris Rauf, Mohammad Waseem, and Hasan Ali.
