T20 World Cup 2024: India to play Pakistan in New York

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, co-hosted by USA and the West Indies, will feature a blockbuster clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at Eisenhower Park in New York on June 9, as per the tournament schedule.

The 20-team event, which will run from June 1 to 29, will also see defending champions England face Australia on June 8 in Barbados, where the final will be held as well. The semi-finals will take place in Guyana and Trinidad on June 26 and 27 respectively.

India, who are in Group A along with Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and USA, will play their first three group matches in New York and the fourth in Florida. Pakistan will also play USA and Canada in New York and Ireland in Florida.

T20 World Cup 2024: GROUPS

Group A – India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, USA;

Group B – England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, Oman;

Group C – New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda, Papua New Guinea;

Group D – South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Nepal.

The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super 8 stage, where they will be split into two groups of four. The group winners and runners-up will then advance to the semi-finals.

The T20 World Cup 2024 will be played across nine venues in the West Indies and the USA, with six in the Caribbean and three in North America. The West Indies venues are: Kensington Oval, Barbados; Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad; Providence Stadium, Guyana; Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua; Darren Sammy Cricket Ground, St Lucia; Arnos Vale Stadium, St Vincent. The USA venues are: Eisenhower Park, New York; Lauderhill, Florida; and Grand Prairie, Texas.

This will be the first time that the USA will host a major ICC event, and also the first time that Canada, USA and Uganda will participate in a Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. England are the reigning champions, having defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the 2022 final in Australia.
