MS Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, has taken legal action against his ex-business partners in a sports company, accusing them of defrauding him of over ₹15 crore by violating their contract.

Dhoni filed a criminal complaint in a court in Ranchi, naming Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwas of Aarka Sports and Management Limited as the accused. The dispute stems from a 2017 agreement to establish cricket academies in India and abroad bearing Dhoni’s name.

According to the complaint, the partners failed to fulfill their financial obligations outlined in the agreement, including the payment of franchise fees and profit sharing. Furthermore, they allegedly proceeded to establish academies and sports complexes without Dhoni’s consent, even after his authorization was revoked in August 2021.

Dayanand Singh, MS Dhoni’s legal representative, stated that his client suffered losses exceeding ₹15 crore due to the company’s breach of contract. Singh also highlighted the firm’s website, which prominently features Dhoni’s image and falsely claims his involvement as a mentor, along with offering athlete and player management services.

Dhoni would like to concentrate on the upcoming IPL 2024 season where he will lead defending champions CSK.
