Australian batsman Steve Smith will be a part of the Commentary panel for the TATA IPL 2023. His valuable insights, as one of the top cricketers of his generation, should give considerable depth and a distinct viewpoint for viewers.

Smith’s captaincy recently had a significant influence on Australia’s turnaround from the third Border Gavaskar Trophy test to the conclusion of the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series. During the just-finished Australian tour of India, fans and media members lauded the 33-year-proactive old’s imaginative leadership.

The 33-year-old cricketer on Monday posted a video on Twitter, saying, “Namaste India. I have got some exciting news for you. I am joining IPL 2023. I am joining an exceptional and passionate team in India.”

The video went viral and drew a lot of attention from fans. On Tuesday, it was confirmed that he will join the IPL 2023 as an expert.

“I think I read the game pretty well so hopefully there will be some good insights for all the people watching IPL out there. I’m certainly excited about joining the Star Sports Team and I’m looking forward to this new experience,” Steve Smith was quoted as saying in a media release by Star Sports.

The veteran Australian batsman debuted in the IPL with the now-defunct Pune Warriors. Smith made his IPL debut in 2012 against Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. In the famous tournament, the 33-year-old has played for the Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Pune Warriors, Rajasthan Royals, Rising Pune Supergiant, and Delhi Capitals.

In 103 IPL games, Smith has scored 2,485 runs. The batting legend was released by the Delhi Capitals and went unsold at the IPL 2022 auction. The Australian star has not appeared in an IPL match since 2021.
