Cricket world cup matches in delhi

Cricket World Cup matches in Delhi: Delhi, the capital city of India, is one of the ten venues for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be held from October 5 to November 19. The Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, will host five matches in the round-robin stage of the tournament, featuring a total of 10 teams.

The first match in Delhi will be on October 7, when South Africa will take on Sri Lanka in the fourth match of the tournament. Both teams have a rich history of playing in the World Cup, having reached the semi-finals four times each. Sri Lanka have won the tournament back in 1996 while South Africa will be finally hoping to end their ICC trophy drought.

The second match in Delhi will be on October 11, when India will face Afghanistan in the ninth match of the tournament. This will be the first time that these two teams will meet in a World Cup match, although they have played each other in other formats of the game. India, the hosts and one of the favourites for the title, will look to dominate the match against the minnows, who have shown remarkable improvement in recent years. Afghanistan, on the other hand, will hope to cause an upset and prove their worth on the big stage.

The third match in Delhi will be on October 15, when England will play against Afghanistan in the thirteenth match of the tournament. England, the defending champions and the top-ranked ODI team in the world, will be confident of winning this match easily, having beaten Afghanistan by 150 runs in their previous encounter in the 2019 World Cup. Afghanistan, however, will not give up without a fight, and will try to challenge the mighty Englishmen with their spinners and aggressive batsmen.

The fourth match in Delhi will be on October 25, when Australia play the Netherlands in match 24 of the world cup. The 5 time champions will be hoping for an easy encounter and could give rest to some of its main players. Netherlands on the other hand will have nothing to lose and will give their best to cause an upset.

The final match in Delhi will be on November 6th between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in match 38 of the world cup. Neither are favourites to qualify from the super 10 and makes it a must win game for both the sides. Sri Lanka has the upper hand when it comes to head to head but Bangladesh has managed to win some crucial encounters against their Asian rivals. It will be an interesting watch for the neutrals.
