While MS Dhoni is on the pitch, it is typical to see him doing wicketkeeping or batting; however, seeing MS Dhoni bowling is an uncommon occurrence.

Dhoni decided to bowl while he was getting ready for the TATA IPL 2023 in Chennai. CSK edited the video to make it appear as though he was bowling to himself in the nets to add interest.

Dhoni has only bowled 22 overs in his career despite playing in 538 international games.

Moreover, he has only recorded one ODI-format wicket in his career. While the Indian Premier League has never seen MS Dhoni bowling, he did bowl a few overs in international cricket before retiring from the highest level in the year 2020. The upcoming IPL season, though, might be his first opportunity to bowl.

The speculation around MS Dhoni’s participation in the IPL has been circulating for a while. While Dhoni has assured the Chennai crowd that he will play in all of this year’s tournament matches, there has been no definitive word on his future with CSK.

For the TATA IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings appear to have recruited a strong team. The team also hired star all-rounder Ben Stokes, signing the England Test captain at the mini-auction in December 2022 for a staggering Rs 16.25 crore.

Even Ravindra Jadeja, who was out of shape the previous season, appears to have rediscovered his signature rhythm. The India all-rounder, who had been sidelined with an extended injury, produced a standout performance in the recently finished multi-format series against Australia at home.

The Dhoni-led CSK will begin their IPL campaign against the defending champion Gujarat Titans on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
