India have been resurgent in red-ball cricket and the trend has continued at Lord’s, except veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane. He has managed to make a headline, not through moving away, but remaining in the game. As the young India team led by Shubman Gill battles it out in England, the future of Rahane in terms of Tests has been subjected to greater conjecture. However, retirement matters have been squashed by the 36-year-old.
After a recent interview with SkySports, Ajinkya Rahane once again expressed his intentions of continuing to play Test cricket, as he was eager to be seen in action in the frequently coming domestic seasons and how passionate he regarded the form of the game. Although being left out of the national team and not playing since 2023, Rahane explains his position clearly: he is not finished yet.

“Not at all,” Rahane told SkySports. “I still want to play Test cricket and I’m really passionate about it. I’ve carried my training gear and I’m preparing for the domestic season. The aim is to keep myself fit and stay ready.”
