The leader of Indian cricket whose name has been synonymous to world cricket over the last ten years, Virat Kohli, is now taking up an entirely opposite type of an innings, one that is away from being in the limelight. India will play two important Tests in London after the IPL 2025 season, but Virat Kohli is conspicuously bypassed. But he is here, right here–in the centre of the city–living here, ironically enough.
Although Virat Kohli is not wearing the whites anymore, his name still litters most news headlines, with fans raising concerns about the absence of grandeur behind his low-key lifestyle despite India hosting matches just miles away where the cricketer now calls home.

Virat Kohli Chooses Privacy Over Public Appearances
A New Chapter in Notting Hill
Virat Kohli is apparently enjoying a peaceful sound life in Notting Hill with his wife Anushka Sharma and two children. In contrast to the madness that he experienced in India, in London Kohli is now endowed with the scarcely detectable luxury of anonymity. Be it in the small cafe or in their commute in the tube, such glimpses are a rarity where we get to see Virat Kohli in a de-energized mood as compared to when he was in the field.
No Sign of Kohli at Lord’s
Whereas a legend such as Sachin Tendulkar might have turned up in some times during major cricket events, Virat Kohli has made it a point to distance himself. The World Test Championship Final and the MCC symposium on “World Cricket Connects” were both held literally on his back doorstep and he did not make an appearance.
Kohli’s Cricket Timeline: What’s Next?
Middlesex Offer Turned Down
Interestingly, Virat Kohli has been approached by County club Middlesex where he is to have a short stint. Nothing very much interested him, however, true to his present low-key fashion. His recent experience with cricket has only been when the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the team he has been with over a long time, won their first-ever championship during the IPL 2025, some time after he had taken over.
Very unfortunately, their victory procession has become a disaster due to a stampede and this will perhaps drive Virat Kohli away, at least temporarily, out of circulation as far as being associated with the games of cricket is concerned.
Set for ODI Return
It will not take fans long to wait, however. The next series that Virat Kohli could feature in is the ODI tour of Bangladesh that India will go to in August, and it will be his only active format of involvement. His silence and estrangement to the England series until that time will remain a matter of speculation.

Final Thoughts
Virat Kohli is one of the key names in the cricket world, even when absent. His choice to leave the spotlight, yet remain near action is intriguing, on the other hand. As the Indian team gets down to business in London, it is poetic that her former boss sits on the sidelines- silent, peaceful and a few streets away.
