Dhoni is currently in Jharkhand, enjoying his break. He had a knee surgery after the IPL 2023 season, where he led CSK to their fifth title. His wife Sakshi has said that he is recovering well from the surgery.
Dhoni had hinted at playing one more season of IPL as a gift to his fans after the final against Gujarat Titans in 2023. He had told Harsha Bhogle that he was not announcing his retirement. However, his final call depends on his recovery. He has also informed CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan about his surgery and his intention to take his time.
The IPL 2024 season will start in March or April next year. The retention list for the teams will be out on November 15, and the mini-auction will be held in Dubai on December 13 or 14. By then, Dhoni’s fans will know if he will play or retire.
