Sunrisers Hyderabad's Dale Steyn Steps Away from Coaching Role

Sunrisers Hyderabad‘s bowling coach, Dale Steyn, has decided to step down from his position, as reported by Cricbuzz. This decision comes amidst a series of crucial changes for the Orange Army, including a reported swap in captaincy. Pat Cummins, the ‘Treble ICC Trophy-winning’ captain from Australia, is set to replace South African all-rounder Aiden Markram as the skipper of the franchise.

The departure of Dale Steyn from the head coach role is attributed to personal reasons, according to the reports. Cricbuzz also mentioned that former New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin will be stepping in as Steyn’s replacement.

Dale Steyn is revered as one of the greatest fast bowlers in cricket history, known for his right-arm pace, swing ability, precise line and length, toe-crushing yorkers, fierce attitude, and indomitable spirit. He has had an outstanding IPL career, showcasing remarkable consistency in sub-continent conditions.

In his 95 matches across 11 seasons (from 2008 to 2020), Steyn has taken 97 wickets at an average of 25.86 and an economy of 6.92, representing Royal Challengers Bangalore, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Lions.
