Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants have pulled off a coaching coup, securing the services of former South African cricketing star Lance Klusener as an assistant coach for the upcoming IPL 2024 season. Klusener, who also heads the Super Giants’ SA20 affiliate team, Durban’s Super Giants, will be a valuable addition to the coaching staff, joining forces with head coach Justin Langer and fellow assistant coach S Sriram.

This marks Klusener’s second coaching stint in the IPL, having previously served as an assistant to former South African skipper Shaun Pollock at Mumbai Indians. Klusener brings a wealth of coaching experience, having led the Guyana Amazon Warriors to their first-ever CPL title last year.

A reunion is on the cards for Klusener and West Indies’ rising star Shamar Joseph, who recently joined Super Giants as a replacement for Mark Wood. The duo had previously worked together at Amazon Warriors in the CPL.

Klusener’s coaching resume extends beyond T20 leagues, having coached Afghanistan and served as a batting coach for South Africa and Zimbabwe. He has also lent his expertise to Tripura in the Indian domestic circuit. Apart from his coaching prowess, Klusener boasts an illustrious playing career, representing South Africa in 49 Tests and 171 ODIs from 1996 to 2004.
