The Indian cricket team will go on a new journey when they tour Ireland for the T20I series. Rahul Dravid, the team’s head coach, has been given a break for the assignment, but even VVS Laxman, who typically fills in for Dravid in these circumstances, won’t be traveling with the players.

Sitanshu Kotak will now be in charge of managing the team while the coaching staff takes a temporary break. During the forthcoming T20I series against Ireland, he will serve as the acting head coach.

Former cricketer Kotak, who hails from the Saurashtra region, has played a crucial role in the National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) coaching setup. He has been India A’s head coach for the last few years as they have competed as a domestic development cricket team.

According to multiple sources, Laxman will now oversee a high-performance training camp close to Bengaluru instead of serving as the head coach of the Indian team on their trip of Ireland.

Additionally, Kotak will be joined by Sairaj Bahutule, the team’s bowling coach.

The series may only consist of T20Is, but it is crucial for the Indian team management with the return of Jasprit Bumrah and the presence of promising young guns such as Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, and others.

Sitanshu has two years of coaching experience with the Indian A team, and the opportunity in Ireland gives him the chance to work with some of the young Indian players.
