The IPL 2025 mega auction is almost here, and one name that’s bound to grab everyone’s attention is Mohammed Shami. He’s known for being super consistent and taking wickets when it matters most, which makes him a top pick for any team. Here are five franchises that should seriously think about adding Shami to their squad:
Top 5 IPL 2025 Teams Likely to Target Mohammed Shami
1. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Shami has played for KKR before, so he’s already familiar with the team. With his ability to pick up early wickets in the powerplay and his experience, he’d be a great fit—especially as a replacement for Mitchell Starc, who was let go. If KKR adds Shami, their pace attack will definitely get a big boost.
2. Delhi Capitals (DC)
Shami has spent four seasons with DC in the past, but he’s become an even better bowler since then. With his improved skills and DC’s strong budget, bringing Shami back makes a lot of sense. He could be the perfect addition to their bowling lineup, especially with his ability to deliver under pressure.
3. Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
CSK loves experienced players, and Shami fits right into their style. His ability to swing the ball and strike early would work perfectly for MS Dhoni’s team. They’ve shown interest in him before, so this could be the perfect time for CSK to bring Shami into their squad.
4. Punjab Kings (PBKS)
Shami has already played two seasons for Punjab Kings, where he grabbed 39 wickets. A reunion could be exactly what PBKS needs, especially since they’re looking for a dependable pace bowler. Shami’s ability to handle pressure and his T20 experience would make him a key player for the team.
5. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
RCB has had issues with consistency in their bowling attack, and Shami could be the answer. He’s reliable, knows how to take crucial wickets, and is great in the death overs. Adding Shami would make their bowling lineup a lot stronger, giving them a much-needed edge in tight games.
Mohammed Shami’s experience and ability to deliver in key moments make him a dream player for any team. Whichever franchise signs him for IPL 2025 will be getting a bowler who can change games and make a huge impact.
