Who Have Chennai Super Kings Retained for IPL 2025?
- MS Dhoni
No surprises here—MS Dhoni is staying! Even though he retired from international cricket, Dhoni’s leadership and experience are still crucial for CSK. It wouldn’t feel like CSK without him, right?
- Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been a key player at the top of the order, and CSK is keeping him. His consistent performances make him a solid choice, and fans are looking forward to seeing more of his classy batting.
- Ravindra Jadeja
Jadeja is staying too! He’s been a game-changer with both bat and ball, not to mention his electric fielding. Keeping him is a no-brainer for CSK.
- Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube is another player who’s been retained. His big hitting in the middle order gives the team a boost, and his handy bowling makes him a great all-round option.
- Matheesha Pathirana
CSK is also holding on to Matheesha Pathirana. His raw pace and wicket-taking ability have impressed everyone, and he’s only going to get better.
How This Impacts CSK’s Auction Plans
CSK is expected to spend at least INR 65 – 75 crore of their INR 120 crore budget on these five retained players. With this foundation set, they still have enough in the tank to grab key targets at the auction.
By October 31, all IPL teams must submit their retention lists before the mega auction. Teams can retain up to six players, including a maximum of five capped internationals and two uncapped players. IPL rules require teams to deduct set amounts from their purse for retained players:
- 1st player: INR 18 crore
- 2nd player: INR 14 crore
- 3rd player: INR 11 crore
- 4th player: INR 18 crore
- 5th player: INR 14 crore
- Uncapped player: INR 4 crore
Of course, franchises are allowed to pay more than these amounts if they wish.
What’s Next?
With these key players locked in, CSK is in great shape for the new season. Now it’s all about filling any gaps in the auction and preparing for another title run. Fans can’t wait to see what’s next for their favorite team!
