ICC Super Eight Stage: The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is poised to heat up as the group stage ends, paving the door for the highly anticipated Super Eights.
Eight strong contenders – India, the United States, Australia, England, Afghanistan, the West Indies, South Africa, and Bangladesh – have qualified from their respective groups.
For the Super Eights stage, these eight teams are split into two groups of four players each. Every team will play three matches against the other teams in their group in a round-robin style. The coveted semi-finals will only be reached by the top two clubs from each group.
The action begins on June 19th in Antigua, where co-hosts the United States and South Africa will face off. The same evening in St. Lucia promises to be historic as England takes on their longtime foes, the West Indies. Given the Windies’ recent dominance of England at home, this match might get combustible.
On June 20th, an important match will take place in Barbados, with undefeated India against an explosive Afghan team. This will be India’s first match in the Caribbean.
Fans may also look forward to a rematch between Afghanistan and Australia on June 22 in St Vincent.
More thrilling matches are promised at the Super Eights Stage. On June 23 in Antigua, co-hosts West Indies will play South Africa in their last Group 2 match.
The 12 Super Eights matches will be held in Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent. Fans of cricket can anticipate an exciting exhibition of talent and tenacity from the eight remaining teams. There will be a heated competition for a spot in the semi-finals!
