Punjab Kings IPL 2026: Auction Highlights and Key Additions
Going into the IPL 2026 mini auction, they are the second-lowest purse of Rs 11.50 crore, just behind Mumbai Indians. Their most notable acquiring of a player is through Australian batting all-rounder Cooper Connolly for Rs 3 crore. Connolly actually a left-handed batter, but also a left-arm orthodox bowler that’s slow. Such a talent has attracted interest from Kolkata Knight Riders, though PBKS outbid them.
The franchise also chose to add in Dutch pacer Ben Dwarshuis for Rs 4.40 crore. This effectively strengthens their pace attack. So, is the case for PBKS – for simply securing high-potential players at such a small budget.

Analyzing the Punjab Kings IPL 2026 Squad
Overall, Punjab Kings has actually made little changes to their squad list in IPL 2026. They retained most of their successful 2025 core such as Shreyas Iyer. In the final of IPL 2025 – they narrowly lost to RCB by six runs.
Now, the franchise focuses on continuity by adding just enough new to their squad. Their high-profile releases in Glenn Maxwell and Josh Inglis just shows now that they are optimizing rather than just having “big names”. The addition of Cooper Connolly and Ben Dwarshuis will add to that.
