India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury since October 2023, is optimistic of making a comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, according to a report.
Pandya sustained the injury while fielding in an ODI World Cup match against Bangladesh and has missed India’s subsequent assignments against Australia and South Africa.
The 30-year-old was also expected to skip the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan and the IPL 2024, but the report claims that he is recovering well and could be fit in time for the cash-rich league.
Hardik Pandya, who has returned to his original franchise Mumbai Indians after a two-year stint with Gujarat Titans, will be eager to regain his form and confidence ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to be held in June.
Pandya, who has played 92 T20Is for India, scoring 1348 runs and taking 73 wickets, will be a vital cog in India’s quest for their second T20 World Cup title. The flamboyant all-rounder had a disappointing ODI World Cup 2023, where he managed only 11 runs and five wickets in four matches. Pandya will hope to put that behind him and deliver his best in the shortest format of the game.
